Central vacuum system Huls (part of Zwanenberg Food Group)

During the packaging of products at meat company Huls, there is a need for vacuum from the deep drawing packaging machines in which the products are packaged. These machines are individually equipped with a vacuum pump (s) that are partly located in the conditioned packaging department. Due to a piece of new construction, there is an increase in the number of machines and therefore also in the vacuum requirement for these machines.
The increase in vacuum pumps in the production area is undesirable because of an increase in heat, noise, energy and costs.

Request

Meat company Huls has asked IVS to realize a central vacuum system, which means that no vacuum pumps are required in the conditioned packaging department. The pipe system must be built solid, strong and robust, so that leak-tightness is also guaranteed in the long term. The system must have sufficient capacity for the current and future situation in which energy consumption must be kept to a minimum.

Solution

IVS has installed a multistage central vacuum system in which the coarse, fine and shape vacuum pipe system is completely made of stainless steel tubes. By linking the fine vacuum to the coarse vacuum, fewer pre-pumps are required, which significantly reduces energy consumption and maintenance costs. The pump system has been partially relocated from another location of Zwanenberg Food Group, resulting in low investment costs. The operating system is linked to the internet (VPN secured), enabling remote assistance and software adjustments to ensure the efficiency of the system in changing circumstances.

When no or fewer machines have a vacuum requirement, pumps automatically switch off / on or the entire system switches off.
