Vitana Salad and Freshness Service GmbH

Austrian-based Vitana processes various fruits and vegetables. At the new production site in Vienna, the products are processed and eventually packaged in consumer packaging. From the delivery of the raw materials to the final end product, the raw materials undergo various processing operations that release a residual stream.

Question

Vitana has commissioned IVS to take care of the waste goods stream for the new production site in Vienna using vacuum technology because of the efficient way of transportation. Energy-wise, this solution offers great advantages over conventional systems that consume a lot of water in addition to high energy consumption. The waste stream should be distributed in a large waste container that should automatically switch to a second container when it becomes full. This creates an efficient continuous process that requires minimal labor and virtually no chance of errors.

Solution

IVS supplied a low-maintenance vacuum transport system that can transport all different types of products at a high capacity. The pipe system is made of a stainless steel pipe in size DN150 where the product is extracted at various points in the site. This includes both automatic lines and manual lines. When the collected product is unloaded from the cyclone, the distribution chute with radar takes care of distributing the products into the container. A radar sensor ensures that the product falls into the container to the set height so that the filling is always even. By equipping the system with reliable sensors, the product flow from the hopper to the container is fully controlled. The control and vacuum technology used makes this system the best of its kind in terms of energy.
